Sunday Drive - Freedom

Sunday Drive - Freedom

There is such wonderful freedom in Christ. When I was young trying to follow Christ, I didn't think it was free at all. I was too caught up in the rules. I thought they were God's rules, some were, and some weren't... many were man made rules.

Galations 5:1(NIV)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Freedom in Christ isn't about following a list of rules. It's all about sharing your life with Him. When we are hurting and in pain or when we are happy and joyful.

He invites us to come to Him just as we are. We don't have to get our act together first. He already knows the best and the worst about us. He understands us inside and out. We can't hide anything from Him.

Romans 8:1(NLT)
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

I know it's hard to bring parts of us to Jesus that we aren't proud of. Could it be we've lived with them so long, we don't even realize we need help dealing with them? We consider them apart of our character, who we are.

Is that an excuse to keep that behavior? Do you really want to part with it? Well, it's a call you have to make because, The Lord, will never force you. The Lord only brings those things to light, because He has great things for us. He knows what we can be!

So consider this, if you recognize something The Lord wants to deal with you about and you don't really want to, are you a slave to it? Could that mean you aren't truly free?

You can be!

John 34-36(NLT)
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. 35 A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

We all have struggles, areas of our lives that we need to surrender to The Lord. This is ongoing... I've been a Christ follower for over 30 years and The Lord still brings things to my mind that I need to surrender.

I am thankful for this. I want to be truly free!

Psalms 118:5(NLT)
In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.

Blessings,
Lori
