Sunday Style - His Ways Are Higher

Sunday Style - His Ways Are Higher

I don't know if you've noticed... but for the last month I've been wearing the same flip flops... if you didn't know it's because I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis. Well, hopefully next week I'll be sporting some new sandals! I will also be sharing my experience with a newer treatment for plantar fasciitis. I have had wonderful success with it! Keep your eye out for that post!

Before I dive into this devotional, I wanted to let you know that if you are ever looking for a dress. Go to Ross Dress For Less! Seriously, I find almost all of my dresses there for such a bargain! I picked up this one for $14.99. It's so comfortable and easy!

Let's move on to this weeks devotion....

This world seems to try and make God understandable and predictable.  He's not. Why do people try and diminish Him? Maybe it's because they can't control Him or figure Him out.

We tend to lean on our own understanding. Nope, that's not going to work. At least not well.  It's hard to change that mindset.

Proverbs 3:5 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

He is infinitely full of wisdom that we cannot understand. I mean think about it, why would we even try to understand the God of creation that created everything out of nothing.

Genesis 1:1-5(NLT)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”

It's amazing, that He would even want to create this world for us, knowing what kind of people we would be. But He wanted a people that would love and worship Him willingly.

Throughout life we have struggles and we don't see or understand what He's doing or why He's allowing things in our life.

We might not understand His ways with our lives or His ways with the world... we need to stop and remember who He is and that His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. He doesn't owe us an explanation.

Isaiah 55:6-9(NLT)
Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. 7 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. 8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

I love those verses. It reminds me that He knows we will try to understand Him, and He understands our nature to want to make sense out of things. Yet, sometimes we just need to accept His ways and trust, knowing that He is all we need. Sometimes... it's just not going to make sense.

He may be mysterious, yet He is majestic, holy, mighty, and all powerful. He is worthy of glory, honor and praise no matter what.  He died that we might have life forever with Him. We can fully trust Him.

Take a minute and praise Him. Find something to be thankful for. Believe that He is for you and not against you. He always has a plan for our good. We just need to trust Him and believe that everything is going to be alright. It really will!

Blessings,
Lori

  1. Lori, I just found your devotional and I want to thank you for these words and the reading. It is exactly what my heart needed right now. I am in such worry and despair about my daughter's health and I've been praying and I feel this is an answer. He is truly worthy of all our praise. He is almighty and will never leave us. He is always there for us and I know anything we ask in His name, with our hearts, will be given. Thanks for the reminder and please know your devotional touched my heart.

  2. Hi Lilly! Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you found hope and comfort. I am praying for your daughter right now. I am also praying for you. It is so hard when God allows tough and terrible things in our lives. We just can't understand. But we can trust Him. He is still on the throne. He is still in control. Praying God's best for you and your family! Blessings, Lori.
