Sunday Style - Gazing or Glancing

Sunday Style - Gazing or Glancing

This Sunday service was cancelled due to this messy white fluffy stuff. Who wouldn't want to sit and gaze at this beautiful scenery, in our backyard?  💗  It reminds me of all the wonderful things God has created for us and leads right into the devotion for today.

Are you gazing at The Lord and glancing at your problems....Are you gazing at your problems and glancing at The Lord.

I read this in my devotion (Jesus Today by Sarah Young) and it has been resonating with me all week. Think about it...

We can get consumed with the barrage of problems and situations that hit us daily. We focus and contemplate all the angles of how to deal with them. Sometimes we become paralyzed and can't even move on.

Stop! This is exactly what the enemy of our souls wants us to do!

He doesn't want us gazing at our Lord and Savior, knowing He will provide the solution and is faithful to take care of us. He wants us to sit and spin and be consumed with worry and fear.

In the natural, it is hard to fight this tendency. But we are called to live supernaturally! The Holy Spirit lives in us and enables us to live beyond the natural.

John 15:16-17 (CEV)
Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you. The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.

Ephesians 3:30 (NLT)
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

We need to continually ask the Holy Spirit to help us fix our gaze on The Lord!

Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I will be honest, this isn't the easiest thing to do! There are so many things pressing on us and trying to influence us to focus on problems. But I know that The Holy Spirit is with me helping me every single day to train me to focus on Christ.

Lord, help me fix my gaze on you and only glance at my problems, knowing You are fully aware of them and will help me deal with them as needed.

Blessings!
Lori
