Sunday Style Over 50 - Entrusted With Treasure

It's been almost 4 years to the date, since I've done a fashion post.  Am I a fashionista???  Hmmm.... not really.

Sunday Style Over 50 2.23.20
But that doesn't mean I don't like a cute outfit!  Most days, I'm in jeans and a t-shirt. 😊 So, it's fun to scour my closet and put together an outfit for church on Sunday.

I used to do this every week, I'm not sure why I stopped. But I thought I'd bring this segment back to the blog.  It used to be called My Fashion Over 40, but I've aged a bit since then 😬.... so this time I'm calling it, Sunday Style over 50.

This is going to be great! I'm so excited about this!  For one, it will help me remember what I wore to church each week. 😆  Second, I get to share a little snippet of what I heard at church. This has been on my heart a while, so here goes!

Each week, I'll try to give you some info about my clothes. Most of them I've had for ages😉... but I'll definitely share when I find something new! I'm a bargain shopper, so I can guarantee there won't be a lot of high dollar items in my wardrobe, if any! 👍

Today's outfit
Shirt: Old Navy long sleeve t-shirt
Sweater: Old Navy cardigan
Jeans:  JCPenny's
Boots: Walmart

It was Women's Ministries Sunday at our church and our Women's Leader, Elaine, spoke about "Entrusted With Treasure".

We all have things that we value or treasure, because there is a memory attached to them or they have special meaning to us.  Which makes them priceless, you couldn't put a dollar amount on them, and you wouldn't part with them for anything.

God views us as His treasure and we are priceless to Him.  Think about that for a minute...  We have special meaning to Him.  He has memories attached to us that He wouldn't ever want to part with.  We are worth so much to Him that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for our sins.  Not only are we His treasures, but He has entrusted us with His treasures.  First, is The Word of God. Second, is our relationship with Jesus.

Elaine, walked us through some of the trials Daniel and his friends went through.  From being taken captive and carried off to Babylon... to not wanting to defile themselves with food from the King's table... to being thrown into the fiery furnace for not bowing down to the King's golden image of himself. (Daniel 1-3)

Daniel was a man of honor.  He was trustworthy and his character shone bright.  He was such a man of honor, that King Darius was going to entrust him to run his entire empire.  Well, that didn't set well with Daniel's fellow administrators.  They tried to fine fault with Daniel, but his character was flawless.

So, they manipulated the King into signing a law into place, that no one was to pray to anyone else but the King.

10 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Daniel 6:10

Daniel didn't let that keep him from doing what he knew was right and what he had done all along, for years.  God entrusted His treasure with Daniel, because He knew he could be trusted.

Of course, this led to Daniel being sent to the lion's den. (Daniel 6:16)  But God being faithful, sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions and in the morning, King Darius came to see what happened to Daniel.

19 Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions’ den. 20 When he got there, he called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?”
21 Daniel answered, “Long live the king! 22 My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” Daniel 6:19-22

God didn't take him out of the terrible situation.... He gave him the strength and courage to go through it!

We need to live our lives with integrity and excellence, staying connected to our Heavenly Father. He will take care of us.

Blessings!
