Sunday Style Over 50 - Difficulties in Life

What are difficulties in your life?  Do you think they are just random mistakes or do you think they could possibly be tailor made blessings, with the purpose of drawing you closer to your Heavenly Father?

Lord, help me to embrace difficulties... Instead of complaining, maybe I should be thanking You for them.

This is one of my favorite verses... take notice of the words 'all things' not some things, not 'only the good things', not 'only the things that I like'.... all things, every single thing in my life.

Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I believe the Lord's goal in my life is to mold and make me more like Him, however He sees fit.  Sometimes, I might not like the way The Lord does that....

Yet, He is my Father, and sometimes I might throw a tantrum, kicking and screaming 😜 , but eventually I will see that I just need to submit to Him.  I'd like to think that as I've gotten older, I'm submitting more willingly.

This weekend was particularly difficult for me and Hubby.... we had to say goodbye to our 16 year old kitty... How in the world can I look at this and think of it as a blessing?

Arwen

I guess, it's how we chose to look at it.  We had 16 sweet years with her and she had a good life with us, probably a spoiled one at that.

We all will experience loss and difficulties, no one is immune to them.  You can't skip out or find a work around.  Some are going to be harder than others, some will be easier to deal with.

Here's the huge "BUT", there is a blessing somewhere.  You might have to look harder, you might have to wait to see it, or it might just be there one day as bright as a sunrise.

What I'm thankful for, is that The Lord knows, He understands, He cares, and is there.  I am never alone.

Joshua 1:9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

It might not be easy, but let's try to embrace the difficulties and search for the blessing.

Blessings!

  1. I LOVE your words on this post! So needed for our time. We've had some very big plans completely cancelled - but my dear, little mom who is with Jesus would have said, 'This didn't take God by surprise!' Today was the day we have planned for and dreamed of for the last year. We were going to leave home with our cabin-on-wheels (travel trailer) and drive north through British Columbia, Canada to Alaska. We planned to spend the summer in Alaska and return home early in the Fall. But God had other plans for us - and we are totally at peace with that. He has things for us to do here closer to home and we are contented to hear His voice and follow the plan He has for our months ahead. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to your kitty. That is always so hard to deal with. Thank you for sharing your heart. God is SO good and He has abundantly blessed us.
