Sunday Style Over 50 - Fix Your Mind On Thankfulness

Hubby and I wish you all a Happy Resurrection Sunday! Today we are counting our blessings even though we can't be with our family and friends.  We pray you are all celebrating the Risen One!

Happy Easter - Fix you mind on thankfulness

Fix your mind on thankfulness. What does it mean to 'fix your mind'? I believe it means to have intense focus, to not let other "things" distract you, to choose what you think on.

So, what are you 'fixing your mind' on?

I read a devotion this week about Eve in the Garden of Eden and how thankfulness was as natural as breathing, until Satan pointed out to Eve the one thing that was forbidden to her.... to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 3:2,3
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

Genesis 3:6
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.

This is where Eve began to 'fix her mind' on the one thing she couldn't have instead of being thankful for all the wonderful luscious fruit available to her.

She became fixated on this... she focused her mind on what she couldn't have, nothing could distract her from this and then she chose a course of action that led her to disobey God and eat that forbidden fruit.

When we 'fix our minds' on what we can't have we lose sight of what we DO have!

We begin to take for granted all the wonderful things we DO have in our lives... our very life, our salvation, the sun that rises every single day, flowers that are beginning to bloom, family and friends...

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

We need to stop 'fixing our mind' on what we can't do, (especially right now) because it is robbing you of joy! We can't wait to enjoy life until this is all "fixed".  We need to 'fix our mind' on thankfulness today!

The number one thing you can be thankful for is that Jesus died for you, to give you life eternal.  He promises to be with you through your life to help you grow and become more like Him.

Find reasons  to 'fix your mind' on thankfulness this will change your entire outlook!

Blessings,
