Sunday Drive - He Makes Us Strong

He Makes Us Strong

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NLT)
9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

That verse seems like an oxymoron. His power works best in my weakness? So, I'm supposed to be happy about all the junk that happens in this life?

When we 'think' we're strong, we don't think we need help. We can handle it ourselves. Until we realize we can't. Then we can see how very weak we are... which actually is a good thing!

We can come to Jesus just as we are, with all of our imperfections and weaknesses. We don't come to Jesus having it all together. No one has it all together. Everyone needs Jesus. Everyone has sin. Everyone has weaknesses. And He knows about it all. That's why Jesus died on the cross!

When we realize how weak we are without Jesus, then we actually are getting stronger! Let that sink in a bit.

Imagine that our lives are a glass full of water. We think we are full and don't need any more water. We think that our water is perfect just the way it is, pure clean drinking water. However, when we actually look at the water, it's dirty and cloudy. That undrinkable water represents our self-sufficiency. We need perfectly clear water. We need God's water that is pure, clean, free from impurities and filled with power!

We need God's pure water flowing through us continually. As His water is pouring into us it cleans out all of the dirt we have in our lives and clears up the cloudy water. Our glass of water is now clear and ready to be used. We need more and more of God in our lives.

Psalms 18:32 (NLT)
32 God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.

Thank The Lord for our insufficiency! It keeps our focus on the One who is all sufficient! When we feel weak, that's when we need to trust in Him even more. There is strength waiting for you.

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

God is all around us, all the time. He knows all things. He knows we need Him. He doesn't hide from us. He's right there whenever you need Him. Call on Him, He WILL give you strength and make you strong.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (NLT)
7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

You will be surprised by what you can handle when you have God's strength in you. We all know this journey has it's ups and it's downs, but with God, you will make it!

Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Blessings,
Lori
