Sunday Drive - Love Grows

Sunday Drive - Love Grows

I'm so grateful that we weren't given a certain amount of love. All of our love doesn't fit into a specific amount of space. In fact, I'm not sure it can be contained. Love is one of those emotions that is difficult to understand at times. There is so much depth and breadth to it.

Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)
18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

I can't even imagine the amount of love God has for us. How wide, how long, how high and how deep is His love?? All of creation shows how much He loves us.

Mike and I have been married over 35 years and I thought I loved him so much the day I married him. Yet, today, I love him more than I ever dreamed! How is that possible? Our love grows. It cannot be contained.

I feel the same way about my children. The capacity of love we can have amazes me. So, if that is how we feel about our own family, imagine how much more, the God of all creation, feels about us, His children!

How many of us truly experience that love? It's one thing to know about God and know facts about Him, and it's another thing to actually experience His loving Presence.

The very second we receive Christ as our Savior, He becomes alive in our hearts, filling them with as much love as we would allow.

Acts 4: 11-12 (NLT)
11 For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

As we grow in Christ and make more room for Him in our lives and hearts, the more He will fill it with His love. It can expand and grow more than you ever dreamed.

When we spend time in His Word, enjoy His presence and talk with Him, it's like watering and taking care of a little seedling that is going to grow into a beautiful lovely plant. The more we take care of our relationship with Jesus the more our love grows.

And not just for ourselves, but our love grows for others as well. Let's fill our hearts with so much of God's love that it spills and overflows. Then we can share His love with others.

1 John 4:11-12 (NLT)
11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

Blessings,
Lori
