Sunday Drive - How's Your Moxie?

Sunday Drive - How's Your Moxie?

I did a little dive on what perseverance means and the word 'moxie' came up. I thought it was an interesting word. The definition of moxie is courageous spirit; determination and perseverance. It also means to have vigor, verve and pep.

That little bumblebee definitely has moxie! It just kept going from flower to flower fully loaded down with pollen!

So, how's your moxie? How's your courageous spirit, your determination and perseverance? I'm asking myself as well! Also, how does this relate to our walk with Jesus?

Life gets super busy as you all know so well! Are we carving out time for Jesus? It's about seeking Him. The Lord says if we seek Him we WILL find Him! We just need to make the effort. To have some of that moxie.

Jeremiah 29:13-14 (NIV)
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.

God isn't asking for perfection. There isn't some magical formula, that if you get up everyday at 6:15, and read 10 verses and pray for 15 minutes, then you will have the best relationship with God. You could do that every single day and still just be going through the motions and be no closer to God than when you started.

No, it's more about our heart, our desire and effort to seek Him, that's what pleases Him. When we are determined to find Him and focus on Him in all the moments of life. Yes, I know it can be especially hard, with all the distractions this world has, but that's when we need moxie the most!

Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

This life is going to be full of it's ups and it's downs. That's just the way it is. So, we need to find a way to keep our eyes on Jesus through it all. It reminds me of what a ballerina does when she spins a pirouette (a spin on one foot). In order for them to not get dizzy and lose their balance, they need to find a focus point that they continue to find when they whip their head around in each spin.

That's what we need to do when things start spinning. Find Jesus, focus on Him. He will keep you going and you won't get dizzy and lose your balance. Keeping your focus on Him gives you strength to withstand anything that comes your way. He is everything that we need!

Hebrews 5:3 (NLT)
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.

2 Peter 1:5-6 (NIV)
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

When we are actively pursuing Christ, it fills us with verve, vigor and pep. Keep on pursuing! Keep looking to Jesus! It fills us with moxie! This turns our journey into joy!

Blessings!
