Sunday Drive - Storms On The Horizon

Sunday Drive - Storms On The Horizon

You know when you're driving and you can see a storm on the horizon. You don't know if you're going to miss it, catch the edge, or go right through. So, you look at your weather app and check the radar to see if you can anticipate if you're going to hit it. (We hit that one in the photo....)

Yet, you still don't really know until you're there right at the storm. That's how life seems sometimes. There will be storms in life. They are inevitable. No matter how hard we try to veer out of the way, we are going to go through them.

1 Chronicles 16:11(NLT)
Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.

The key to making it through storms is to take your focus off of the storm and onto to Jesus. Yes, I know it's hard, because it's thundering and lighting and wind is blowing almost forcing you to keep watching it. But all that does is cause you to worry more. You can't change the storm or it's direction, but you can change your focus and learn to trust in The Lord.

How many times have storms looked so fierce coming at you, but by the time it reaches you, it's lost much of it's power. You have no idea what the storm is going to be like, it could end up being nothing but a little pop up shower. Yet, the enemy would like nothing more than to keep you in a state of fear and worry. He wants to keep you focused on the problem and not The Lord. The Lord is who is going to be with you through every single storm of life, no matter what!

Psalm 73:23,24(NLT)
23 Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.

Trusting and releasing your concerns to your Heavenly Father, is the only way to find security and give you strength. He is completely capable to handle all of the storms in your life. Bring all your worries to Him.

So the next time you find yourself scanning the horizon for storms, use that as a reminder that He is right beside you. Instead, scan the horizon for the beautiful sunrise or sunset, there are more of those in your life than storms. Don't go looking for the storms, trust Him.

Build your friendship and relationship with God. Then you will find yourself much stronger when the storms hit and you can stand firm with Christ holding your hand. He is our refuge and strength.

Psalm 73:28(NLT)
But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.

Blessings,
Lori
