Sunday Drive - What Is A Successful Day?

What is a successful day?

One of the definitions of success is the correct or desired result of an attempt.

When my lists feel hardly touched or I didn't get as much done as I wanted, I can feel somewhat unsuccessful. Like I've failed in some sense.

Let me emphasize the word I used.... 'feel'. Feelings do not always tell the truth.

But, let's look at some of the other things I might have done... Did I spend time with The Lord? Did I encourage a friend? Did I pray for someone that was sick? Did I spend time worshipping The Lord?

Those are some of the things that truly matter.

Matthew 22:37-38(NLT)
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

There are so many things pulling at us in this world... so many expectations. Jobs, family, finances, household responsibilities those are just a few. Then on top of that, the troubles of the world weigh us down. It won't stop.

We have to stop.

Jeremiah 6:16(NLT)
16 This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.

Stop, take a breath and slow down. The lists can wait, many of the 'things' that fill our day can wait.

What's most important to please the only One that matters. He's the One that takes care of you every second of every day.

Matthew 6:25-27(NLT)
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

Let's keep it simple... we are successful when make Jesus our number one priority. The more we seek Him, the more everything else seems to fall into place.

Matthew 3:33(NLT)
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

What is a successful day? One that is focused on Jesus.

Blessings,
Lori
