Sunday Style Over 50 - What Is Thanksgiving?

Sunday Style Over 50 - What Is Thanksgiving?

I heard the other day that Thanksgiving is more than just a noun...  it's a verb.

Isn't that interesting? Thanksgiving is more than a day to stuff yourself with food.  It's more than a day off work, it's more than shopping for deals and gifts for Christmas.

So, what is Thanksgiving then? How can it be a verb? It's giving thanks. To me that means it's more than sitting around a table and saying what you're thankful for once a year.

Giving thanks is an everyday attitude we need to be in the habit of. Is it possible to thank God too much? To praise Him too much? No, never!

A thankful attitude opens a door of intimate communication with our Heavenly Father. It doesn't deny the realities of life. We all struggle with issues or problems, but it takes our eyes off of them when we are thankful.

Being thankful can actually take the sting out of our struggles.  That's why God instructs us to give thanks in all things.

Ephesians 5:20 (NLT)
And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I want to turn everyday into Thanksgiving. To keep my eyes lifted up to heaven. To keep thanking The Lord for everyday, and everything in my life. To share the goodness of The Lord with others.

In the midst of the crazy world we live in, one thing is for sure, God is the same yesterday, today and forever and I will praise and thank Him with everything I am.

Hebrews 13:8 (NLT)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Blessings,
