Painting and Stenciling The Entry

Stenciling The Entry

Who would've thought that a little paint and a stencil could turn a boring wall into something so stunning?

It was time to paint this little wall. Ever since we painted in the living room and dining room,  the plan has been to continue that gray (or a shade like it) throughout the entry area and up the stairs.  But I wasn't quite ready to tackle those massive walls, that is a job for hubby!  (Update:  The entry is now painted and so are the stairs!)

So, I gave this little entry wall a couple of coats of Valspar's Polar Star.  Next, it was time to add some character to this wall.

I've had this stencil probably for 2-3 years.  My son bought it for me for Mother's Day, so thoughtful!  It's just a bummer that it's taken me this long to get moving on it! 😏 But I'm doing it now!!

Here's a closer picture of the stencil. I just love it,  I'd say he has great taste!

Not a pro here...   Read the directions, put up my level, made a couple of marks, lined it up and went for it. 🤗

Voile'!! The stencil isn't perfect... It got a little wonky here and there, but you wouldn't be able to tell. Shoot, I can't tell anymore! The stencil is pretty light, I used the house trim paint color for the contrast.

Accent Stencil Wall

I was going to try and make it more prominent and uniform, but after I finished it Hubby said he really liked the way it fades here and there. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it too! So, it's done!

I really like how soft it is.

What a quick project with a HUGE impact!  Now this has given me the confidence to do other stencil projects!

  2. Lori,
This is so beautiful and such a fabulous idea. I have been going back and forth about what to do in a glass cabinet. This is perfect. I hadn't even thought of stenciling.
