Sunday Drive - Growing In Grace

Sunday Drive - Growing In Grace

Growing in grace is about some sort of change. That change must happen in us, because Jesus never changes.

Hebrews 13:8(NLT)
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

We need to be transformed into His likeness. This process is a wonderful adventure and yet it can also be painful. Growing involves change and change isn't necessarily bad, it can be good. Yet, it usually involves some sort of loss, which can be a bit scary at times.

It reminds me of that quote, 'Bloom where you are planted'. That may involve some transplanting as well.

We just transplanted some very large shrubs in our yard. In the photo above is a big lilac bush we transplanted. We tried our best not to damage their root system, but it was inevitable that some roots were cut and some branches were broken.

But they needed to move, they weren't in ideal spots and where we moved them they will have so much more room to grow and bloom and become so much more. We also weeded around their base and pruned branches that were growing in the wrong direction.

God knows exactly where we need to be, where we need to go, where we need to be planted in order to bloom and become all that He has planned for us.

Ephesians 2:10(NLT)
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Jeremiah 29:11(NLT)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Our whole life is a growing journey. It's not just a one an done and we've arrived. No, I've been in this journey for over 30 years and believe me, I still have a lot of growing to do and God still has a lot of pruning and weeding to do in my life.

Psalms 119:105(NLT)
105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

My job is to cling to Him and grow my roots deep. Hold on to His hand tightly, especially when the pruning is more than I'd like it to be.

He will never leave me. He will always be there, no matter what. I can trust in Him and so can you. Keep reading His Word, keep believing, keep looking up.

Ephesians 3:20(NLT)
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Let the Son shine on you and you will grow and bloom where He's planted you, becoming more than you ever dreamed.

Blessings,
Lori

Our lilac seems happy where it's planted.
