Sunday Drive - So Many Voices

So Many Voices

In this busy and chaotic world there are so many voices telling you this and that. How to live, how to think, how to work, how to play, how to eat, etc., etc. I don't believe that the Lord is necessarily in all the loud clanging words and voices of this world, but more in the soft quiet whispers during your time spent in devotion.

1 Kings 19:11-13 (NLT)
11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.

He speaks peace to us from the depths of our being. Words of assurance. Words of peace. He isn't in the voices of accusation or the crushing words of shame. The Lord speaks to us in tones of love, that lift us and build us up.

We need to decipher the voices that try to deceive us and the ones that are trying to transform us. If we allow the Holy Spirit to be in charge of our minds, we will see clearly. Listen to how those voices are talking to you. Would Jesus talk to you like that?

Romans 12:2 (NLT)
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 8:1-2 (NLT)
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

Don't let the voices of this world steal from you. Let the Light of His Presence shine in your life. He lives in us. He fully equips us to live holy lives.

1 John 4:16 (NLT)
16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

Slow down for a minute... don't let the voices of worry and fear dim the light of Jesus in you. Pause before responding to people and situations... allow the Holy Spirit to work through you. If we respond too quick, we might not be giving space for the Lord.

The Lord wants to be the center of all that you are. Helping you through every step of your life. Let Him. Shut out all the voices of the world, slow down and listen for His voice... His direction.

Psalms 25:4-5 (NLT)
4 Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. 5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.

Blessings,
Lori
