The Messy Times of Life
I heard this the other day and felt the need to share...
"When God wanted to make David a King, he didn't give him a crown, he gave him
a Goliath.
When God wanted to raise Joseph to the palace, he didn't give him a shortcut,
he gave him prison.
When God wanted to make Esther a queen, he didn't give her comfort, he have
her a crisis.
When God wanted to make Moses a leader, he didn't give him a stage, he gave
him a wilderness.
A lot of times when you feel like God is breaking you, He's actually building
you.
What you need to understand is that God doesn't give us what we expect in
life, He gives us what we need. To become everything that He needs you to be.
To fulfill the calling on your life." - Josh Howerton
Through those hard messy times in our life, God is calling you to Him and equipping you for what He has in store for your life.
Those times are hard.... messy... but through them you are becoming the person God wants you to be.
I think about the times in my life that were sooo difficult. Those times when I just wanted to give up. Times when I thought life was unfair. Times where I was mad at God. Times when I asked why???
And yet, here I am. Still walking with God. Still holding His hand. Because He saw me through. He never left me. He held me. He lead me. And today, I am who I am because of what God lead me through.
This verse has helped me during so many times of my life. It is one of my favorites.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths
straight.
That's the hard part, trusting in Him when life just doesn't make sense. But it's not about what we understand. It's about what He knows and understands! If we will just submit to Him, the road we're on with all the switchbacks, will eventually straighten out.
Psalms 139:1-4 (NLT)
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
The Lord knows EVERYTHING about you. Every single thought you think. Every place you go. Every word you're going to say before you say it. He is there with you through every messy part of your life. He's also there through every amazing part, too. He's always there to see us through... never doubt... never question His Presence.
Hold His hand, trust in Him and you will be able to look back one day and be thankful for those messy times of life and you will also be thankful for who you are today. Life can be messy sometimes... but as one of my close friends says... "Messes clean up". 💗
Blessings,
Lori
