He Calls You By Name

God knows every detail of you, inside and out. We are not a number to God. He not only knows your name, but also the number of hairs on your head! With all the billions of people in this world, He knows my name and your name and everything about us! Incredible!

Luke 12:7 (NLT)
7 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

John 10:3 (NLT)
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

He is our shepherd, we are His sheep. He calls to us and leads us. He calls us by name. Have you ever inserted your name into certain Bible passages? It's quite powerful. Here's an example with my name.

Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)
43 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you,(Lori) Jacob, he who formed you, (Lori) Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you, (Lori); I have summoned you by name;(Lori) you are mine.

This is so powerful! It makes the scriptures personal to you. You are personal to The Lord. He loves you so very deeply. He wants us to know His voice and follow Him.

John 10:27 (NLT)
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

After Jesus' resurrection, Mary thought Jesus was a gardener, until He spoke her name... "Mary". She immediately recognized Jesus!

John 20:16 (NLT)
16 “Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”).

I pray that we all recognize His voice as He calls to us. He calls to us each day through the scriptures. He reassures us of His love, His grace and mercy.

1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

His love for you is unshakeable. It cannot be disputed or questioned. The scriptures are clear. This truth gives you a firm foundation to build your life on. It gives you strength to follow Him. Listen for His voice. Listen for The Savior who calls you by name. You are precious to Him.
