Sunday Drive - Minimize Worry, Maximize Worship

Sunday Drive - Minimize Worry, Maximize Worship

We have the ability to discipline and train our brain to minimize worry and maximize worship!

Worry is often a result of thinking about something at the wrong time. So many times, I can worry about something that I have no power to change, or "the thing" is far into the future and I really don't need to spend time thinking of it right now.

Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Yes and amen, to that verse! We all have a ton on our plates. Jobs, children, activities, chores... the list is endless. But we all only have 24 hours in each day. No one gets extra or less. What we chose to do with those 24 hours is up to us.

Finding the balance between making the most of today and planning for tomorrow... without overthinking it and without worrying about it. That's the key!

Matthew 6: 26-27 (NIV)
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Think about that... Can we add even a single hour to our life by worrying? Worrying wastes the precious time we have. Besides, Our Heavenly Father promises to take care of us. Not only the big things, but the little things too.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God has given us an amazing brain, we have the capacity to monitor, analyze and change our thinking. We can redirect our thinking from worry to worship.

Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Ask The Lord to help you. The easiest way to maximize worship is to read scriptures back to The Lord. Telling The Lord how much you trust Him, how much you love Him. Telling Him how good He is.

Many times I wake up early... too early and my mind begins to run through my day. Thinking about this, thinking about that. Concerned about potential problems or if I'm going to have enough time for all I need to do, etc.... you get the picture. That's where I need to redirect my thinking.

I need to praise Him for my day. Thank Him for giving me strength and direction. Trust that He will show me how to use my time wisely. Ask Him to help me rest in Him and give Him glory throughout my day.

Psalm 18:1-3 (NIV)
I love you, Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise.

If we can make this a habit, we will find ourselves worrying much less and worshipping much more!

Blessings,
Lori
