Sunday Drive - Could You Do It Better?

Life does not always go the way we want it to. From our limited perspective... we might even consider that God isn't doing a very good job managing things. In fact, when we complain or criticize, we are implying that we could do a better job at running the world. That thought is almost laughable...and a little scary...

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

The fact is, we do not see what God sees and we do not know what God knows. I'm sure if God pulled back the curtain, we would then have a glimpse of what's going on backstage and then we might be able to understand a bit better. However, I don't believe we could handle it. God has designed us to live by faith not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

God in His kind and loving way shields us from knowing the future. He is calling us to live a life of thankfulness. That gratitude is not based on the things He does for us, but because of His sovereignty... Because He is the Creator of the universe. He controls all things. All of heaven and earth are filled with His Glory!

Isaiah 6:3 (NIV)
3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Let God take care of what He takes care of. Let us take care of what we take care of. We are to acknowledge that He is sovereign and He deserves all the glory. We are to give thanks in all things, no matter the circumstance.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

He will work everything out.

Romans 8:28 (NLT)
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

He's not mismanaging. He has a plan.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

We are to trust in Him. He is a good God.

Psalms 145:9 (NLT)
9 The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.

He loves you!

Blessings,
Lori
