Sunday Drive - A Tiny Spark Can Rekindle A Fire

Sunday Drive - A Tiny Spark Can Rekindle A Fire

In my Bible reading, I've been going through all the kings of Israel and Judah in the book of 2 Kings. It's quite interesting. There were so many evil kings and so few good. I just finished reading about a good king, Hezekiah, and the siege on Judah from the King of Assyria.

King Hezekiah went desperately to The Lord about this and the prophet Isaiah assured him that The Lord had heard his prayer.

Israel was going to go through some tough times, but there was a remnant of survivors that spread out from Jerusalem.

2 Kings 19:30-31 (NLT)
30 And you who are left in Judah, who have escaped the ravages of the siege, will put roots down in your own soil and will grow up and flourish. 31 For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem, a group of survivors from Mount Zion. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

All this to say, that there is always a remnant. As long as there is a spark that remains, a fire can be rekindled.

We love having campfires in our backyard. Those coals from the fire seem hotter than the actual fire itself. As long as one of those coals keeps burning, we can add more wood to start it up again.

If we keep the coals together, they feed off each other and stay lit and remain hot. Yet, if we spread out the coals, they loose their heat and will eventually go out.

Our faith is similar to coals. God can rebuild your faith with even the slightest glimmer of hope in your heart. He can restore a blazing fire of faith in you!

2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NLT)
6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

I encourage you to spend time with those that will keep your coals burning. Don't separate yourself from the body of Christ. There's something about being with other believers that lifts your spirits and builds your faith. Your coals feed off of each other and make you burn hotter and stronger.

Romans 15:13 (NLT)
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

All God needs is a tiny spark of faith to rekindle a blazing fire in your heart for Him.

Blessings,
Lori
