Priorities Out of Whack!

Priorities

Have you ever found your priorities to be out of whack?

Well, that's what I finally realized this morning... It all started with this little devotional.

One Minute Inspirations for Women

Let me tell you, this little devotional might be small and cheap... but it packs a punch and is rich spiritually! I have several days highlighted and I will be reading this one over again. More than once it has made me step back and take a good look at myself.

The 35th devotional is titled 'I Shall Not Want'.  It talks about neglecting our spiritual walk with God. Trying to nurture it with quick fixes, like a devotion here or there. If I want to grow spiritually, then I need to spend a little more time with the Lord.

That's when it hit me.

You see, I had just spent 2 hours sitting perusing Facebook and Pinterest. I realized the time and how much had passed. I quickly grabbed my one minute devotional, because I needed to get started on my day. Ugh, busted... I can easily spend hours online, yet I can barely spend 10 minutes with my Lord and Savior? Somethings wrong with this picture...

You know, I am so thankful that God takes the time to correct us and show us His ways.

I realized right then, that my priorities were completely out of whack. I've gotten lazy. No excuses. I realized that my days have been pretty much whatever I want to do with them because I had surgery and there is only so much I can really do. Although, each day I'm able to do more and more, and before you know it I'll be back to "doing it all" so to speak.

In the meantime, I've started some bad habits. I've let my walk with God get a little flabby so to speak. Kinda like my middle has gotten in the last 8 weeks, considering I haven't worked out. Boy, do I have a lot of work to do in that department... Anyway...

Time with the Lord, needs to come first. Nurturing my spiritual walk with God should be my number one priority.

Which made me start thinking about my priorities in general.

What are my priorities? Then, what order should they be in? Please understand, these are my priorities, I'm not saying they should be yours. That's something you need to decide. I'm only writing this, because I have a sneaky feeling I'm not the only one that finds themselves in this place....

My Priorities...just listing them off the top of my head.

  • Time with God
  • Taking care of myself
  • Exercise
  • Taking care of hubby
  • Bills are paid
  • Meals are planned and prepared
  • Creating a peaceful home
  • Keeping in touch with my kids
  • Finding time for fun
  • Keeping a clean home

These aren't in any particular order and I just though of 10 random ones. One thing I see missing, is doing anything to help others. I want that to be a priority also.  I want to make time for people.

For me to get these in order, I feel like I need to first get #1 right. Time with God. I want Him to help me prioritize my life, my day.

I have a motto that I've quoted quite a bit in my life...

Plan

It is sooo true. So... for me right now, I am planning on putting God and His Word first. That means before I get sucked in to Facebook or Pinterest or whatever... I will spend quality time with My Lord. That sounds like a good start!

Blessings!!
