We Are Moving....

Furniture!
Haha, I bet you thought we were actually moving, huh.
No, that's NOT happening.
Anyway, Hubby helped me move somethings around in the office.
Let me start from the beginning...
About a month ago, when I decided to start working on the office, I was trying to think about the colors and the furniture.  With black furniture, the room can quickly feel very dark and heavy.

I was talking to my daughter about it.
She is in college majoring in
graphic design/studio art.
She said the reason I feel like the room is heavy is because all of the black furniture is bunched up on one side of the room.
She explained that if I would move the hutch to the
other wall it would feel more balanced.
She was sooo right!

Well, the only problem was Hubby's fish aquarium was on that wall and that was something I was NOT going to mess with.  So, I had to wait....

The other problem was the fish tank was becoming
 quickly overpopulated with these.

 Malaysian Trumpet Snails

Ugh!  I'm mean they're okay for your aquarium, but there were soooo many of them.  We've had an aquarium for about 20 years and we have NEVER had any snails, so this was weird.
Hubby and I didn't know how to get rid of them, so basically we did nothing...
It got worse...
Not fun.
Now, really, it isn't that hard to google how to get rid of these buggers, but neither one of us took the time to do it.  Then one day, we did...
Imagine that?
It was so very difficult to type in google search...
"How to get rid of snails in aquarium"
Google said, "Yo Yo loaches".
Well, we called the pet store and they didn't have them but they did have zebra loaches and they do the same thing.... chomp up those snails!
So, we went there and came home with 2 of these.
 They are really cute!

It's been close to a month... the snails are GONE!
I can't believe it.  It worked! Yay!
So, yesterday, hubby did a major water change and we moved the aquarium.
Which meant we could move the hutch!
First, I needed to remove those shelves....

Then spackle and paint the holes.

Plus the internet comes in right next to the fish tank, so....

It went from this...

To this....
See that great big empty wall? Oooo, I have plans!
I feel like I can really get moving on the office!

Now the office feels much bigger
and more balanced.
Thank you, Sweetie, for your great advice!

Oh, I have to share this with you.
Hubby has a pair of mating angel fish.
They are really pretty, we've had them since they were the size of a quarter.
Every so often they like to lay their eggs
on this one plant in the tank.
My son was home and we showed him
that they were laying and fertilizing the eggs.
It was pretty cool and he videoed it on his phone.
Thought you might want to see....

Thanks for stopping by!!

  2. So will you be painting a giant chalkboard calendar on that big empty wall? Yeah, I have chalkboard paint on the brain and am always scoping out big giant walls where I can paint a giant calendar. Unfortunately, my little house does not offer up such a wall ...

  5. Rearranging furniture is fun! I usually do this with my kids. It enhances their creativity in designing our house and their own rooms as well.

  6. I love love love your stenciled dresser. Have been searching for the perfect damask for my bedroom. I think I found it here.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! I found the stencil online free and printed it up. It's not as big as you might think. My printer sits on top of the three drawer organizer and it holds copy paper and what nots. But I have seen on Pinterest where you can use a projector to enlarge a stencil on a dresser to trace and paint it on. Blessings!
